Friday photo: burgeoning arch

Floors Castle, near Kelso in the Scottish Borders, is a magnificent old stately home sitting in splendid grounds. It has an excellent tearoom, garden centre and adventure playground, and the gardens round the back of the house are a delight to wander round. The archway shown below is one of the many attractive features of Floors: a profusion of greenery cascading over a stone wall leading into a paved courtyard.

  1. Looks like a wonderful place for a nice outing with options to keep one interested and well fed. The arch is lovely, but I agree with Assistant #2 about the upkeep. I do not think that I would want that job!😊

    1. Thanks, Jo. It’s a splendid place, and the tearoom is very good. The garden centre has an incredible range of roses and other plants, all set in beautiful grounds. Altogether, a grand day out.
